N57 35d Engine

This engine provides both great performance and economy, its a real gem in the BMW engine line up.  The N57 35d is a 3.0 Litre straight six diesel twin turbo lump controlled by the Bosch EDC17 CP45 ECU coupled to a ZF8 automatic transmission.  Other than the F10/F11 535d's all of these cars are X Drive which helps get the immense torque on to the tarmac.

Whilst the engine performs well stock tuning makes these incredibly fast, our stage 1 tunes see the 335d's typically doing sub 4 seconds 0-60mph and outperforming a F80 M3 in a in a 0-60 sprint.

BMW quote 313 BHP and 620 NM factory figures however generally we see them running 295 - 305 BHP, 590 - 610 NM stock on our rolling road.

We have tuned in excess of 200 of these engines Stages 1 & 2, our extensive R & D on this platform has led us to be making industry leading power figures, fast real world performance whilst maintaining reliability.

Stage 1 Tuning

Stage 1 tuning requires no mechanical modifications, typically we see these hitting 370 - 385 BHP, 730 - 760 NM of torque.  Most people opt for Stage 1 Tuning as all the factory emissions system are left alone, the car remains MOT compliant and there are no visual modifications.

Gearbox Tuning

The ZF8 transmission is controlled by the Getrag TCU, whilst in stock format the box works well we can transform the box to behave in a much sportier fashion, improving shift points, shift times gear displays and adjustment of the maximum torque limiter.  These boxes are easily capable of reliably dealing with 900 Nm of torque.

335d xDrive Sedan Stage 1

- Gear Display in all modes - Removed Torque Limiters

335d xDrive Sedan Stage 2

- Torque Limiter removed - Gear Display in all modes - Quicker, yet still comfortable shifts in D/Comfort - Revised, more Driver-Oriented Shift-Points in D/Comfort - Raised Launch-Control Shiftpoints for Tuned Cars - DTC and DSC-OFF modes no longer revert to Comfort-Shifting, but activate the fastest Shift-Speeds and the transmission won't upshift at redline in Manual. This is perfect for playing around with your car. - Retains full ECO-Pro functionality

335d xDrive Sedan Stage 3

- Factory Torque Limiter removed. This enables your Tuner to setup his engine tune correctly and prolong your transmissions life! - Gear Display in all modes - Raised Line Pressure for very High-Torque applications - Quicker, yet still comfortable shifts in D/Comfort - Even faster and harder shifts in Sport and Sport+ - Revised S-Shiftmaps to make it actually useful for spirited driving - Revised, more Driver-Oriented Shift-Points in D/Comfort - Torque Converter slip minimized in lower Gears - Raised Launch-Control Shiftpoints for Tuned Cars - DTC and DSC-OFF modes no longer revert to Comfort-Shifting, but activate the fastest Shift-Speeds and the transmission won't upshift at redline in Manual. This is perfect for playing around with your car. - Retains full ECO-Pro functionality

No matter what stage of tuning selected all cars are custom tuned on our mechanically linked (X drive safe) 4x4 rolling road.  BMW's X Drive system cannot be safely ran on a normal non linked rolling road and damage to the transfer box will result.  Whilst we see many companies unplugging transfer boxes or disabling the 4 x 4 system via software to run them on a two wheel drive dyno this is far from ideal and often results in massive over readings of torque.

Before and tuning work commences your car is put on our rolling road, full diagnostics carried out and data logs  taken to establish the health of the vehicle. DPF regeneration and minor adaptions are all carried out before tuning where required at no additional cost.

We are also a BMW AOS approved dealer to carry out software updates, servicing, reviewing service history, recalls and the like.
